Professor M. Premjit Singh obtained his M.Sc. (Life Sciences) degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; M.Phil and Ph.D degree in Zoology with specialization in Entomology from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.

He was earlier Vice- Chancellor, Director of Research, Director of Extension Education and Professor of Entomology in Central Agricultural University, Imphal. He has published 105 research papers, 55 research communications, 9 books, 11 technical bulletins and many popular articles.

Dr Singh has developed/identified 16 novel technologies/concepts/methodologies in the area of Plant Protection. Under his leadership the University could develop 7 new crop varieties, 10 products, 4 patents and compiled 133 technologies, 50 success stories, 25 farmer's innovations and 39 protocols to mitigate the challenges during Covid 19 era.

Dr Singh is recipient of 14 awards including Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Award, 2017 and FICCI Higher Education Excellence Award, 2018. He is also member of 18 Professional/Academic bodies and Vice-President of Entomological Society of India, New Delhi.
